The Colombo Magistrates Court today (10 Jan.) declined the petition filed by Adarsha Karadana asking for the court to launch her on anticipatory bail.On 03 January, Karadana, who was recently in the spotlight after releasing a supposed video of her estranged partner, former Presidential Advisor Ashu Marasinghe sexually abusing her animal dog, filed a petition with the Colombo Magistrates Court, asking for that she be released on anticipatory bail on account that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is preparing to detain her. However, Karadanas petition was turned down by Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis today, on the grounds that allowing for the petition to proceed would be unsuitable, as examinations into the allegations levelled against Marasinghe and the questionable video in question are currently underway.Despite Karadanas counsel having actually mentioned that his customer had actually filed the petition fearing for her safety, Marasinghes legal agent countered this argument, mentioning that the release of Karadana is most likely to impede the continuous investigations into the matter. The CID, too, notified the court that enabling the release of already discourteous Karadana would impede the investigation, as she is unlikely to aid the continuous probe in any method if released. On 23 December 2022, Karadana, together with Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Hirunika Premachandra, required a media instruction, during which they launched a video and pictures of the previous Presidential Advisor allegedly sexually abusing the formers family pet dog.Marasinghe vehemently rejected the accusations and filed a problem with the CID on 24 December implicating Karadana of having doctored the video herself. He went on to require Rs.

1.5 billion from the duo on 30 December as payment for maligning him.Accordingly, notices were provided to both Premachandra and Karadana, requiring Rs.

500 million from the previous, and Rs.

1 billion from the latter, over recent claims made by the duo at the previously mentioned press conference, while the CID is also preparing to take Karadana into custody over the complaint submitted by Marasinghe.
