The Attorney General today informed the Court of Appeal that a charge sheet has actually been filed against State Minister Sanath Nishantha over the accusations of contempt to the court.The participant Sanath Nishantha had appeared prior to the courts, when the plaints submitted by two lawyers, specifically Priyalal Sirisena and Vijitha Kumara, were taken up today (Jan.

17), before Appellate Court Judge R.

Gurusinghe.There, Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama, who appeared on behalf of the Attorney General, notified the court that the appropriate charge sheet has been sent to the court through a motion.She also asked for time to send the list of evidence and video footage in relation to the charges.Accordingly, the court which gave time to submit the pertinent evidence, likewise purchased for the case to be remembered on February 23.

The pertinent charges have been filed alleging that the State Minister had actually harmed the honour and the image of the judiciary by revealing vital views on the manner in which the magistrates acted in granting bail to the suspects involved in the Aragalaya demonstration movement, while speaking throughout a media conference held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) celebration head office on August 23.
