According to data from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), homicides in the state decreased by 14.5% in May compared to the same period in 2022.Last month, 195 cases were registered, while the previous year saw 228 cases.The secretariat highlighted that this is the lowest number of homicides recorded for the month of May in the past 23 years.Moreover, the accumulated number of homicides in the first five months of 2023 is the lowest in the historical series, which began in 2001.There were 1,136 homicides in 2023, compared to 1 .
